“Poison Ivy” Recap
It’s Ivy Week at Constance Billiard and St. Jude’s!
The pressure is on - both for the “legacy” candidates (those with parents at the schools) and for those without legacies:
On a run, Nate’s father reminds him how important Dartmouth is to the family. Nate wants to keep his options open.
Dan is also interested in Dartmouth.
Blair is emphatic that she wants to go to Yale.
Serena tells her mother that she still intends to go to Brown. Serena’s mother is relieved; she was worried that Serena’s mind was no longer on college.
Serena and Blair exchange words in the hallway after assembly, which Serena missed. Shortly after, the two have it out on the lacrosse field - a number of penalties results in a rough and tumble scrum. The hot lacrosse coach kicks Serena out of the game after Blair fakes an injury.
Dan interviews for an usher position at Dartmouth and does an amazing job. Nate tries to talk himself out of the position. And Chuck believes that being “Chuck Bass” is enough to win the spot. Dan loses out to Nate, no doubt due to Nate’s father pulling a few strings.
Chuck figures out Serena’s secret: she regularly visits a treatment center. He takes photos and shares them with Blair.
Serena visits the treatment center for therapy sessions with Erik and his mother. Erik wants to leave the center but Lily doesn’t think it’s a good idea. The “compromise” that they reach is that Erik will accompany Serena to the Ivy mixer.
Dan gets an invite to the mixer when his father offers to be the entertainment at the mixer. Dan gets stuck on the refreshment committee.
Chuck switches usher positions to Princeton, so that he can introduce Blair to Dr. Ostroff. The connection? Erik is a patient at the Ostroff Rehab Center.
Jenny meets Erik at the mixer. She wears the dress that Blair gave her the week before.
Dan helps Nate out with the Dartmouth usher and Nate returns the favor by sending Dan to chat with the usher. Nate’s father is disappointed that Nate has given up on Dartmouth. They quarrel and Nate tells him to “back off.”
Blair announces at the mixer that Constance Billiard will be sponsoring the Ostroff Center. Blair tells everyone that Serena is a patient at Ostroff - Serena keeps up the facade in order to protect her brother. Serena confronts Blair about what happened and Blair vows to continue to ruin Blair as revenge for sleeping with Nate.
Jenny tells Dan that Serena isn’t an addict - it’s Erik who is a patient. Dan follows Serena and tells her that he knows, but that her secret is safe.
Erik later confronts Blair and tells her that it wasn’t Serena who was the patient at Ostroff - he was. Blair says that couldn’t be true because she’s never seen Erik take a drink. Erik shows Blair his wrist where he had cut himself - and Blair is shocked. Erik tells Blair that she “didn’t see that coming” because she has everything.
Nate’s father sets him up on a run with the Dartmouth rep the following morning. He explains away Nate’s behavior by crying “food poisoning.”
Jenny comes to visit Erik the next day.
Blair comes to visit Serena - she finds her in the rain in Central Park, reading a book. She reads Serena a letter that she wrote her before she went to boarding school - where she reveals that her father left her mother for a male model, Nate was acting funny and she wanted to talk to Serena. She just didn’t know where Serena was… They kiss and make up (more or less). Will it last?
